I really came to like and admire Fia.
A fact he later regrets. The hero is one of those darkly handsome men, noble in heart, who has become jaded by life’s experiences ” I don’t quite get the whole thing of him taking Fia off to an island with him. Read it Forward Read it first.
But they were turned away without even a bite of food. So many of my preconceived notions about her cinnie dispelled.
Aug 22, LJ rated it it was amazing Shelves: It broke my heart, too, when Thomas came to Fia’s london house, only to find her refuse him once again. Overall, this is first book in in the last several I read that I really liked. I look forward to reading more ravjshing Brockway as always. She was a good person, who due to circumstances beyond her ravidhing was judged and found wanting by people who never got to know her. Little did he know the real woman behind the mask, that Fia and James were actually plotted something onr her late husband’s children, to gain their house back.
The story of Fia and James Barton’s connection connei not totally clear to me, no matter how much I reread. I loved Ash as a tormented alpha-male character, he complemented Rhiannon very well. I’m not even settled on that, but I figured I’d get the review out of the way and get on with my life.
Want to Read saving…. Again, one of those tactics that Brockway likes to use.
Then, during a masquerade party that Ash is attending, a knife barely misses Rhiannon’s heart. He is kind of a jerk. It gave every aspect of the story enough explanation and didn’t skip parts of it.
There’s a little secret that I actually hoped Gunna, Fia’s nurse, would reveal to Fia and her brothers. Shirley Smuda rated it it was amazing Jul 20, Different than any heroine characters I’ve read, Fia was sure cold and a bit manipulative. I figured out the whole background of that little side story pretty quickly, but thought it was an interesting touch, especially at the end of the book.
I liked how more of a strong personality appeared near the end of the book, especially as she dealt with Fia and Lord Carr. While Ash loathes his father, he is willing to undertake the task for the money it will bring, money that will buy Raine’s freedom.
But he didn’t expect bfockway passions she would ignite in his own wary heart. I just loved this book and didn’t want to put it down. Jul 24, Beanbag Love rated it really liked it. Yes, it was kinda cliched, but the heroine was awesome.

This is his story, He was a notorious rogue with a reputation for hell-raising and heartbreaking. The relationship between them was tense and heartfelt. No matter how Thomas convinced her that it made no difference, that he still loves her, she kinda lost hope.
Soon enough she jettisoned the idea of writin New York Times and USAToday best selling author Connie Brockway has twice won the Romance Writers of America’s Rita award for best historical romance as well as being an eight time finalist.
Once she would have given her soul to Thomas McClairen, until he shattered her innocent dreams. The Passionate One is the first in a trilogy featuring the Merrick siblings.
What’s the Name o She and Rhiannon have been doing just fine — in fact, Rhiannon is to be wed to Philip Watt, the younger son of a baronet. I did not enjoy this book though. Ash teases her with a few kisses, but on May Day, when she’s drunk and gathering flowers in the forest at night, alone Philip, May Day King, has broken his ankleAsh goes in search of her, worried for her safety.
I WISH that the authors would make that clear on the books so that I’d read them in the correct order! Lei amava Ash Merrick.
