If this is the only book a reader would pick on economics, then he would finish the ninety or so pages with the right impression, and mostly the right answers. The first was the was the discovery that what had been taken for laws presumably deducible from the observation of economic phenomena in a limited geographical area England and France in particularand about which there was considerable disagreement among the adherents of the classical school, were not really laws at all, but mere regularities that, when treated as infallible laws, often failed in their application.
Perhaps the best brief primer on economics ever penned, Ballve’s little classic explains such basics as ballvd economics is — and is not — all about, the role of the entrepreneur, the factors of production, money and credit, international trade, monopoly and unemployment, socialism and interventionism — all from an “Austrian School” gaustino, and all in pages!
