He works as a fixer for Howard Hughes, and his cozy relationships with the crooks and film industry folks make him the perfect bag man and troubleshooter for the Red hunting enterprise.
Major historical themes are the Red Scare of the s and rampant homophobia. Other hallmarks of his work include dense plotting and a relentlessly pessimistic worldview. Prepare your stomach for it. It’s 5-star genre fiction. Very highly recommended for those interested in good writing and a good story, or in crime fiction more specifically.
