I only gave it three stars because the first half of the book wasn’t really tell It’s a good book that I’d recommend youd other parents, too. A must for every child and parent. What does exist is a mutual learning process based on who you are as a parent and who your child is. I am a mother of two boys 2 and chiild and though they are easygoing, well adjusted children with which I had no major problems I still felt that I do not understand some things and that I am doing something wrong.
While we became sophisticated we lost honesty.

I’m going to Austria in August and will definitely order some of his other books there that I haven’t seen in English yet. I’m happy I’ve read it because it did contain great pieces of advice. This book helped me become more authentic and made my family much happier. After looking at the preview of the earlier edition by Farrar, Straus, and Giroux, I realized that these editorial issues were all missing, so I will chjld ordering a used copy of that edition instead.
It’s a good book that I’d recommend to other parents, too. Jesper Jseper is a family therapist, husband, father and a grandfather. This book looks well beyond parenting, into intrapersonal relations and communication. This book has been of enormous importance for my family and I believe it should be on the reading list of any parent or parent to be.
The destructive values — obedience, physical and emotional violence, and conformity — that governed traditional hierarchical families are being transformed. Children force us to consider our own destructive patterns; they take us beyond the limit of pain and make us juuul about chipd we are suitable to be parents in the first place, they expose our shallow, pedagogical attempts at manipulation and insist on our personal presence; they offend us by rejecting our good advice and guidance; they proudly and matter-of-factly assert their right to be different; they jeeper in destructive ways that force us to confront the fact that we have slipped up.

Using examples from families in many different countries, he has written a book that challenges parents to see their years with their children as an exciting time of groth and development for the whole family.
While I can usually skip over a goof here or there, the number of errors here seriously affected my reading experience – so much so that I will be returning the book. This groundbreaking book should be on the shelf of all parents everywhere. It offers an insight into child’s needs, wants and consequentially some patterns of behavior. Please try again later.
