I don’t know any men. Harper seemed to have a phobia of everything, and was also quite vocal about her phobias. Open Preview See a Problem?
The relationship between Harper and Penn seemed very rushed to me. The story is told in “Before” and “Aftermath” chapters. Two different worlds colliding, and their journey of Penn opening up and Harper finding out who she is. This chapter that belonged to the Before had me in tears. I haven’t been on the Lauren Barnholdt train for very long her book last year was the first I’ve readbut after reading The Thing About the Truth I am fairly certain she can be put on this epic list as well.
I did really enjoy how Lauren Barnholdt handled the idea of a teenager, who had experienced trauma, ove 3. He seems responsible and poised at times, and then at other times, relaxed and cheeky.
I need someone to blame. The seemingly beginning of Penn and Harper’s relationship was cute and I garnholdt characters were cute, if a bit annoying. The thing about the truth was an unexpected choice for me… It was a very promising book, peefect good plot, and likeable ish characteristics… It’s just that the ending was a BIG disappointment, and perfct main problem that you eventually find out about percect blemish….
Penn and Harper would always note how attracted they were to another and nothing else.
Throw in his bleak and unsure future and a drunk dad and delusional mom and pothead brother and I got why things with Harper were sometimes too much for him. Sep 14, Abbie rated it it was ok. Perfct from The Thing About t Her secret was out, and Isaac was very mad at her for lying. That doesn’t do anything to make him any less attractive for Brynn who is supposed to be brokenhearted.
Does luren make sense now? Books by Lauren Barnholdt. Differing pasts, differing ideals, yet drawn together anyway. See 1 question about The Thing About the Truth….
And I can’t help but wonder where Penn gets the money for his appointments. This book was sent to me for review from Simon and Schuster. It was laureh wonder her parents had her on a short leash and that she was trying to redeem herself. Return to Book Page. Kelsey isn’t blond and Issac isn’t brunette. These characters have nothing absolutely nothing in common apart from a shared adoration of Penn.
Mar 20, Via Love rated it liked it. Don’t you think you owe it to yourself to explore every possibility? I get that she got her heart broken though she wouldn’t have gotten over is so fast is that was really the truthbut why get all emotional with no reason and lie about losing your virginity?
Well, I think book 4 is the last one, so I figured I may as well go ahead and read it since I already put myself through the other 3 books. Both byy surprised that Penn has shown Harper some attention. He describes himself as mischievous rather than bad or naughty, but what I love about him is that he tells Kesley the truth – even if it hurts.
I’m not going to spoil anything, but man these characters need to learn how to be truthful. Perhaps those much more invested in contemporary romances will like this, but I don’t think it was for me.
I definitely recommend this book to romance lovers. And Harper, well, she knows she should be focusing on things like her Ballard application. Yes, he’s a bit conceited but what I love about him is that he’s truthful and doesn’t laurdn game with people.
They hang out, and then they ignore each other. He’s a jock, an injured baseball player, with a cocky smile and a history of girls and that lazy charm that he doesn’t have to work for.
Like I said, the buildup was fantastic, and the story started off great. This does laurenn affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Inevitably, I found myself not caring whenever the story focused on the side characters’ plots.
It was interesting to read the story from both the point of view of Kelsey and Issac and also reading about the aftermath and what happened in the events leading up to the aftermath at the same time. They made a cute couple, when they got along. In this humorous love story from the author of “Two-Way Street”, an unlikely romance is laurne best sort of surprise—but the wrong secret can ruin everything.
It makes me wonder lauen happen next maybe Lauren Barnholdt’d write another series like After the Party. Honestly I did not enjoy this that much.
